John Martyn

The music of John Martyn has cropped up at a few poignant moments of my existence so as he recently passed away it seemed fitting to scribble a portrait of him. I put this piece in the Joyful Bewilderment exhibition as a homage to the tragic troubadour.

I've done this screenprint of my Grandad before but here's a one off I messed about with, on wood, fun colour way with hand drawn ghostly birds of prey, it's meant to be what's coming out of his mind. My Gramps used to breed Canaries but he is rather fond of an Owl or two, I imagine he likes to think about them from time to time. I gave this to my good friend as a very late Christmas present, done a couple more with hand painted letters. Should do a set of these really as the old fella is 90 this year, guess i should do an edition of 90 but that's a lot of printing!

I have not got all my films developed from my recent trip to BCN yet. But It has inspired me to mooch through my pile of negs from other Sonar fest based excursions to that fine city and cobbled this selection of images together. All shot on the old faithful Holga and there's still a pile to scan in and edit which i'll get round to one of these days...

We had an ace weekend in Edinburgh with the Outcrowd setting up and opening the Joyful bewilderment exhibition at Analogue, met some lovely scottish folks, drunk whisky,  stayed in a sweet apartment and stopped the the worlds best service station, here's a few pics.
